Travel
English Toy Spaniels are very portable. They are happiest when they are
with their humans thus they enjoy "going".
Many hotels/motels now accept dogs but I find that the LaQuinta Inn and Suites
is the most gracious when we arrive with our group. The most important thing is
to inform the desk clerk when making the reservations. I always say that we will
be arriving with our companion pets since few are knowledgeable about the size
of an ETS.
All four do just great in our single engine
airplane. They show no distress from the noise or the altitude
changes. Arnie likes to look out the window but the others just sleep.
It is safest to transport dogs in kennels or some kind of restraint.
As some of my pictures show, our gang is not confined on trips. The
exception to this is when I have the top down on my car. I like to use
a harness with a short leash for each dog. Finally, it goes
without saying - do not leave these little guys unattended in a car.
Their short muzzle makes them very prone to heat. It is also very
important to keep them on a lead when out.
